Manjulika Srivastava

Prof. Manjulika Srivastava holds a doctorate in Distance Education and has been working as Professor of Distance Education with the Distance Education Council (DEC), Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), the apex body for Distance Education, since 1989. She served as Director, Distance Education Council from October 2008 - August 2010. Author of 7 books, 70 articles and research papers on Distance Education, she has visited all the major open universities in the world. At the DEC, her responsibilities include promotion, coordination and maintenance of quality and standards of Open Distance Learning (ODL) systems of Higher Education in India; funding, development of policies and recognition of ODL institutions; development of the Assessment and Accreditation Scheme; evaluation of programmes and ODL institutions as a member of the Joint Committee of UGC-AICTE-DEC (2007-2010). She has conducted numerous staff development programmes for distance educators in Indian universities, UNESCO, UNDP and Commonwealth of Learning. She serves on academic, research and management boards of several universities, including IGNOU.
