"Bill McBride is a well-known national speaker, educator, and author. A former middle and high school reading specialist, English and social studies teacher, Bill presently trains teachers both nationally and internationally in content area reading methodologies and teaching to gender differences. His highly interactive workshops are filled with practical hands-on strategies based on best practices. He holds a Masters in Reading and a Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Bill has contributed to the development of a number of school textbook series in language arts, social studies and vocabulary development. His latest book on content area reading is Building Literacy in Social Studies, written with Donna Ogle and Ron Klemp. He is also known for his heartwarming novel entertaining an Elephant. Already in its sixteenth printing and used by school districts across the nation, the book tells the moving story of a burned-out teacher who becomes re-inspired with both his profession and his life."
