He is the Former Director of the Management Development Institute (MDI), Gurgaon. He was associated with MDI for more than three decades as Professor in the Economics Department. His academic interest has been in Corporate Governance and Corporate Social Responsibility. He was the Chairperson, Centre for Corporate Governance, MDI, Gurgaon, from 1998 to 2006. He was also the editor of MDI management journal Vision from 1989 to 1997. He has been consulting and researching in this field for the past two decades. He has also published books on corporate governance and corporate social responsibility.
