Gourkrishna Dasmohapatra

He teaches at Science and Humanities Section, Netaji Subhash Engineering College, Kolkata, as well as at Jadavpur University. He is PhD (Science) from Jadavpur University. He has worked as post-doctoral fellow at Polymer Institute in Czechoslovakia and at Universitat-Siegen in Germany and also at Central Glass and Ceramic Research Institute for ten years in various capacities.
As post-doctoral fellow, he worked on the synthesis and characterization of polymers and synthesis of some interesting compounds in the zeolite supercages, as also on the rare-earth doped glasses for their possible application in the field of laser and phosphor materials, and controlled release glass fertilizers for application in the fields. His current research focus is on the rare-earth spectroscopy in liquid media and some natural products for their application as acid-base indicators. He has more than thirty publications in international journals and conferences, as well as has some patents to his credit.
It was during his research across the world that he realized the hazards of pollution, and with that realization and learning he got attracted to environmental concerns and wrote several books on environment.
